Shenzhen and Factory Visits 2009

After Hong Kong, we travelled back Shenzhen and stayed at a pretty nice hotel for a very reasonable rate.  We inspected 3 factories, one that “made” photo albums, one that made journals, and one that really made photo albums.

The first one was really a key chain factory that had some samples of photo albums.  We saw the samples online and it’s they style we wanted, so we go to the factory and find out that they don’t make them, they’re just samples.  The problem is that they are a key chain factory.

The second factory made notebooks and planners, but had a hard time understanding what bonded leather was.

The last factory is the gold standard, passing big US store audits, etc. that make photo albums.  We also passed by on the freeway the iPod and iPhone factory complex.

We took the train from Shenzhen to Guangzhou in the evening.  The train got up to 200 kilometers per hour or 124 miles per hour; it seemed crazy because it didn’t look like we were moving that fast.  Four years ago, when I came, we rode the old train that took probably twice as long.
