Harris, McGee (Nov 8, 1800 – Aug 26, 1863) by Thomas Wheatley

From Ancestral File Records, we know that McGee Harris was born
November 8, 1800 to William Harris and Margaret Sloan near Lebanon,
Wilson, Tennessee.  He married Mary (Polly) Givens at age 26 in
Tennessee.  McGee later married Mary Ann Simmons July 18, 1860 at
age 59.

It is apparent that McGee Harris came with his family to the Rocky Mountains in the Heber C. Kimball Company of 1848.

McGee would have been 47 at the time of the trek, and made the journey with his wife Mary and son William.

Their other children Alexander, Martha Givens, Mary Ann, and Emily
Caroline seemed to either have made the trek some other time, or made
the trek at the same time but were not included in the record.

Two children Sarah Johnson and Margaret Jane died in 1862 and 1853 in Illinois at ages 35 and 24 respectively.

McGee died August 26, 1863 in Salt Lake City, Utah.
