I came across this the other day. I had an old copy of Photoshop Elements 2.0 that I installed on Windows Vista (it was very difficult to get it to work). It finally worked, but after a while, I wanted to install the new version since it was a little buggy on Windows Vista.
The only problem was that Elements 2.0 wouldn’t uninstall. I kept getting an error that the Uninst.isu file was corrupted.
After a lot of searching, here’s what you need to do to uninstall Photoshop Elements 2.0 on Windows Vista:
- Type CMD in the run prompt (hit the Windows “Orb” to get the Run prompt).
Right Click the Command Prompt icon that should appear and select “Run as Administrator” - Type the following into the command prompt: net user administrator /active:yes
- Restart the computer
- Log in as the administrator account
remove the Uninst.isu file in the Adobe Elements folder within “Program Files” - Reinstall Elements 2.0 (This is to create an uncorrupted isu file needed for the uninstall)
- Uninstall Elements 2.0
- Log out
- Log back in as your normal user account.
- Follow the instructions above to run the command prompt as administrator, and type: net user administrator /active:no
You can now install the newer version of Photoshop Elements if you so desire.
