Our own Christmas Miracle

Ryan Home

We experienced our our Christmas Miracle as we waited for Ryan to arrive at the airport as a return missionary.

It was a tale that either required Rudolf’s nose or a lot of prayers. We didn’t see much of Rudolf, but there were sure a lot of prayers because a heavy fog had engulfed the airport and surrounding area.

Previous flights throughout the day had all been diverted from what we heard, but with faith and prayers the fog lifted enough for this one flight, and Ryan was able to come home!

One little thing that helped this Christmas shopper was Amazon Prime which offers free, 2-day shipping on items fulfilled by Amazon.com.  Even though I ordered last minute, the gifts still arrived on time.  During the holidays, the UPS shipments get later in the day.  We received ours around 8pm.

Christmas 2008

Ode to Joy.

We had a great Christmas this year.  The kids participated in a Nativity Reenactment that was pretty cute.  Autumn got her first bike with training wheels, and the girls got a doll house. Autumn was sweet and suggested that we write a thank you note to Santa.   Autumn was also pretty excited to get a Sleeping Beauty Doll.

Most of our shopping was done online and at Amazon.com. It was so nice to order the gifts without having to fight through the lines and aisles at the stores. We have an Amazon Prime membership which gives us free two-day shipping on most of the things we purchase regardless of shipping weight.

The family got a Wii for Christmas as the big item and also a Wii fit as an “exercise” machine.  The Yoga exercises available on the Wii Fit have been great for both of us. Even though we know the Yoga poses, it’s much more fun to have the Wii to keep track of our progress, and to have a personal trainer through Wii Fit. We found out after getting the Wii the Wii has built-in wireless capabilities and can be used to access and browse the Internet. The console can also be used to display pictures from a digital camera with an SD memory card slot.

Autumn was Mary in the Navity.

Cousin Brooke was the baby in the “manger.”

Megan was an Angel as well as her cousin Savannah.

The Christmas tree was fun adorned with little pictures of each family member in small frames.

Autumn has been riding the bike inside the house since there has been so much snow outside.

Autumn got a letter from Santa thanking her for the cookies she left.

Megan really enjoys the little Mickey and Pluto Christmas Dolls.  The girls had watched over and over “Mickey’s Twice Upon a Christmas” movie, and they loved receiving their first Mickey dolls in their stockings.

Megan also enjoyed the treats.

Autumn and her cousin Savannah recieved matching doll houses.  I like to call them mansions.  Where are we going to put all these toys?

It snowed like crazy this holiday season!  We got caught in a blizzard on the way to the Wheatley extended family party.  It also snowed all throughout the week of Christmas and on Christmas.  We had a lot of snow in our driveway, our car got stuck for a little bit just trying to get in!  The day after Christmas, it seemed like I spent most of the morning shoveling snow!

Fall Fun 2008

We’ve had a lot of fun this fall and are due for a few updates.

On a snowy, December evening, we visited the live Nativity at Don’s home. This year, two Roman soldiers rode up and down the line asking the ages of the little children and if they were boys to fulfill the order of King Herod. Seeing the soldiers was neat but also a little unsettling to know that 2,000 years ago, they caused quite a stir going after the baby boys under 2 years of age.

We went to Disney on Ice with the family and enjoyed watching Autumn’s and Megan’s faces light up with delight at seeing the Disney Characters.

The above picture was before it started. Her face did light up during the show.

Autumn had her birthday and had lots of fun at her first dress-up party with friends.

Megan had fun too!

For Autumn’s birthday dinner with the family, we went to the Mayan Restaurant.

We drove to St. George for Thanksgiving and went to Jumpin Jacks with the kids.

We also held a surprise part for Grandma Betty.
Halloween was fun with Glenda the Good Witch and Dorothy from the Wizard of OZ.
