We’re now enjoying Canton Fair Phase 2.  We figure that we’re walking about 20,000 steps a day as we walk the halls using a pedometer.  To put it in perspective, at home, we’ll walk 2,000 steps on a low day at 6,000 on a good day.  We are walking a lot.  You can see from the picture below, the walkway goes on for a very long time.

Crossing from Hall A to Hall B, there was a show going on of a lion made up of two performers.  It was crazy; they were jumping together high in the air to land on poles.

We went out to dinner at a place that had a live alligator/crocodile tied up on the floor, let’s say about 6 inches away from where people in the restaurant were walking.  Let’s also just say, the alligator wasn’t there for show.

These restaurants display your food live for you.  They’ll even bring you the fish in a bag to your table before they cook it so you can approve.  We’ve seen snakes, and water cockroaches  ALIVE as we walk through the lines at the restaurant and the server wanting to know what we choose.  When we ask if we can get the shrimp without the shell and heads, they think we are absolute nuts, and they give it to us in the shell, head, eyeballs, etc. in tact.

We’ve met some interesting people.  We met one guy from Turkey who had a booth, a real intense star, and would give CRAZY PRICE, CRAZY PRICE to us on some back massaging vibrators.

Most of the booths are from factories in China, but there are booths from many different countries.

The whole world is here (represented here).  We’ve seen jewish, and muslim, you name it.  Nigeria, France, the middle east, Russia, Argentina, Brazil, Indonesia, India, Thailand, Israel, the UK, Ireland, the US, China, and those are just the ones that I’ve noticed from name tags.  Lots of people here attending the show, but not as much as previous years.

Outside our hotel in Haizu Square, there were lots of people dragging cartons along the street.  We thought it was pretty funny and joked about our orders being transported that way (the sad thing is that it could be true!).

On the flight home, there were really only two American Movies to watch, and I was only interested in seeing one of them (Madagascar 2).  The people sitting next to me went to sleep and left their monitors on.  I think Madagascar played about 7 times on their screens.  I’m glad I brought my iPod so I could watch Lord of the Rings.  That killed 3 hours, and I finished the book I brought.  On the flight home, the strategy is to stay awake for the whole flight, then when arriving in the US, it’s night time, and your ready to go to sleep.
