2005 – Year in Review

The year 2005 will be remembered
for many things. Here we've listed a few highlights…


Family Events
(In no particular order)

  • Autumn started walking on her own on October 25.
  • The family purchased a new home in July.
  • Thomas started a job with KPMG.
  • Thomas read all the currently released Harry Potter books within about a three week period while he was traveling for work.
  • The family went on vacation to Hawaii for the very first time in October.
  • Thomas graduated with his Bachelor and Master degrees from the BYU School of Business.
  • Autumn began riding forward in her car seat.
  • Christmas was spent in Santa Clara.
  • The family welcomed Josh Caplin home from his mission.
  • Thomas created Wheatley Family History volume 1 for the extended family.
  • The family purchased a new computer.
  • Thomas and Angie dressed up to see the new Harry Potter movie as part of a contest for work.
  • Instead of giving presents among the adults in the Wheatley extended family, the family decided to perform acts of service, write them down anonymously, and then read them at random at the Wheatley extended Christmas party.
  • Thomas’ bonsai is still alive.
  • With a new house, the family learned how to lay laminate flooring, paint, hang blinds, cut and lay tile, install a mantel, trim trees, put up a fence, patch holes, fill gaps, fill cracks in cement, get rid of rodents, decorate, stain wood, install lights, install ceiling fans, install a chandelier, install sink faucets, caulk, re-install a saddle valve, hang shelves, fix toilets, install new garage door parts, and install doorknobs.
  • Thomas sold something on eBay for the first time.
  • Thomas created a new Family Finance Tracker.
  • The family got high speed Internet with Digis.
  • Thomas visited Los Angeles, California; Dallas, Texas; Great Falls, Montana; Seattle, Washington; and Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin for work (some locations were visited multiple times).
  • Very first washer and dryer purchased for the family.
  • Purchased one share of Google (kind of expensive, but definitely worth every penny).
  • The family had a gas fireplace installed.
  • Autumn started talking.
  • The family took a trip to Island Park, Idaho.
  • Thomas turned 27.
  • Angie turned 24.
  • Autumn turned 1.

 

World Events

  • A devastating Hurricane named Katrina struck the Gulf Coast bringing terrible destruction to New Orleans.
  • The release of Star Wars Episode III marks the end of the Star Wars saga.
  • Harry Potter IV released in theaters.
  • Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe released in theaters.
  • 200 year birthday celebration held for Joseph Smith.
  • A terrible earthquake occurred in Pakistan.
  • The war in Iraq continued.
  • The search for Osama bin Laden continued.
  • Pope John Paul II passed away.
  • President Gordon B. Hinckley, president of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints celebrated 95th birthday.
